أكد توماس مولر مهاجم بايرن ميونخ الألماني، أن التغلب على الضغوط أحد مواهبه، ويتمنى التواجد مع منتخب بلاده ألمانيا في منافسات يورو 2020 المؤجلة للصيف المقبل.

في الوقت الحالي، مولر ليس في تشكيلة منتخب ألمانيا، بعد أن أوضح المدرب يواخيم لو وجهة نظر علنية للغاية بالانتقال إلى اللاعبين الأصغر سنًا بعد إخفاقات كأس العالم 2018، واستبعد ماتس هوملز وجيروم بواتينج ومولر.

وتقام منافسات اليورو في الصيف المقبل، بعدما تم تأجيلها من صيف 2020 بسبب تفشي كورونا.

مولر مهاجم بايرن ميونخ يلعب بشكل جيد، ويبدو أنه من غير المعقول ألا يعود إلى التشكيلة مع حلول الصيف، وقال في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ديلي ميل”: “آمل أن تكون هناك فرصة لرؤيتي في اليورو، لكننا سنرى ما سيحدث في الأسابيع المقبلة”.

مولر تحدث كذلك عن تغلبه على الضغوط، وأكد: “هذه واحدة من مواهبي!، عادة أقول إنك تبلغ من العمر ثلاث سنوات في عام واحد في بايرن ميونخ”.

وأضاف: “الحدة عالية جدًا، وبالطبع مع وسائل الإعلام، كل مباراة ودية لنا على التلفزيون الألماني ولذلك ليس لديك وقت للاسترخاء، في كل مرة تقوم فيها بتمريرة خاطئة أو تسديدة سيئة، يقول الجميع أوه … توماس مولر لا يلعب جيدًا!، إنه مرهق، لكني أحبه”.

وأردف مولر: “عندما تكون في هذا العمل لفترة طويلة، فأنت مدمن بعض الشيء على هذا الضغط، وربما يكون هذا من أصعب الأشياء بعد حياتك المهنية هو العثور على شيء يمنحك هذا الأدرينالين، لكن ليس هناك فرصة لنا”.

وأتم مولر: “ربما عندما أذهب إلى الجبال وأقوم بالقفز من طائرات الهليكوبتر، لا أعرف؟ في الحياة الطبيعية، هذا غير ممكن، عانى الكثير من اللاعبين من مشاكل في الماضي وسيواجهون مشاكل في المستقبل مع هذا الوضع”.

في الوقت الحالي، يمتلك مولر فرص المنافسة على لقبي دوري أبطال أوروبا والبوندسليجا، وربما يتعين عليه البدء في إعداد نفسه للاستدعاء للمنتخب.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has suggested to Suddeutsche Zeitung that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club to join Arsenal because of a desire for money.

What did he say?

The Gabon international spent four-and-a-half years with the Bundesliga outfit after joining from Saint-Etienne in 2013, and moved to the Gunners in January of 2018 for a fee of £55.4m, which at the time was a club-record sum.

It appears that Watzke is still bitter over his departure, and has attacked his motives of moving to north London.

He told the German outlet: “Of course it is hard to keep a player in the face of such sums. Some go to clubs because of this money, where they have not played Champions League for years.

“[Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, who plays great at Arsenal, will probably be warm-hearted when he looks at his bank account, but on Wednesdays will be saddened when he has to watch the Champions League on television.”

Deserves more respect

Why the 60-year-old has chosen now to share his displeasure with the striker’s exit is baffling. The 30-year-old left the Signal-Iduna Park 18 months ago, and Dortmund are aiming to win the Bundesliga title this term for the first time since 2012.

After triumphing just once in the last four league matches, perhaps that is something the club’s hierarchy should be concentrating on rather than an ex-player’s decision to leave.

Above all, though, Aubameyang deserves more respect. His form in the Ruhr region was quite simply scintillating.

In 213 games, he netted 141 goals, with him twice scoring 25 or over in the Bundesliga – don’t forget, they only play 34 games a season. Not only that, he helped fire the team to the German Cup in 2017 during a period where Bayern were arguably close to their best.

There is surely another reason why he felt it was time to move on, too. During the 2016/17 campaign, his last at the club, the Bavarians won the title by a huge 15 points, with Dortmund in third 18 points off the top.

Not that you can blame Aubameyang for that – he won the Bundesliga Golden Boot by bagging an astonishing 31 goals in 32 matches.

When Aubameyang left the following season in January, Dortmund were 19 points off their big rivals with only 20 matches played. Once again, the forward had impressed, scoring 13 in 16 in the league. The problem was that the side just weren’t competitive.

Granted, Arsenal haven’t exactly been much better, but they did make the Europa League final last term.

And anyway, it can’t be argued that the Premier League is not of a higher quality than its German counterpart. The players who play there receive big wages, yes, but it is bigger test of one’s ability than what the German top-flight can offer.

All in all, it is incredibly harsh to effectively call him a money-grabber, especially considering his performances for the club. It is likely that Watzke will not consider this to be his finest moment in hindsight.

While one said “I’d rather get relegated with Poch” than have the likes of Eddie Howe, Brendan Rodgers or Nuno Santo, another said they would “100% take Rodgers”.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, John Hartson has suggested Steve Bruce will be given until January to turn things around at Newcastle.

Since taking over from Rafa Benitez in the summer, Bruce has had an almighty job in trying to lift spirits at St James’ Park. Before the clash against Manchester United last weekend, the Magpies found themselves with just five points from their opening seven Premier League games.

However, a famous 1-0 victory over the Red Devils helped them climb out of the relegation zone, and Hartson has revealed the next few months could prove crucial in deciding the manager’s future at the club.

He told Football FanCast: “I know Steve, he’s a really really top bloke, says it like it is, doesn’t make excuses, he’s honest, he just needs his players now to step up and to give it everything.

“I think Bruce will get a bit more time, another three or four months until January. If Newcastle are rock bottom or in the bottom three then Mike Ashley might decide to do something and panic.

“But he’ll get the next three or four months to try and get Newcastle on some sort of run.”

Make no mistake about it, the victory over United felt like a hugely pivotal moment in the context of Newcastle’s season and Bruce’s future. The 5-0 humiliation the Magpies suffered at the hands of Leicester the week before had simply added to the ill-feeling and resentment surrounding the club, but the nature of the win against the Red Devils could prove to be a turning point.

Matty Longstaff’s heroics and his partnership in midfield with his older brother, Sean, could galvanise the fans, whilst the side’s return to a more tried-and-trusted tactical set-up bore great rewards too. If Bruce can tap into that over the coming months, then he may just be able to completely turn things around.

Samuel Umtiti has been unlucky with injuries as of late.

The 25-year-old French defender is yet to return to full fitness after suffering from a foot injury back in September.

But unfortunately, that is not the only setback he has sustained in recent times. Before that, Umtiti used to have a lot of problems with his knee and had to miss 28 games in the 2018/19 season alone.

So far, he’s been out for 49 days with his latest issue and Barcelona will surely hope he manages to recover quickly.

Be that as it may, Clement Lenglet had to step up in Umtiti’s absence and the Blaugrana’s other French centre-back did well.

But now that Umtiti is close to fully recovering, the question remains: is he going to slot back into the starting XI or is he now long past his best?

Many Barcelona fans still believe the 25-year-old can reclaim his spot and they have been calling for him to return while reminding everyone else of his quality.

Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah has revealed that he receives Instagram messages from his Gabonese teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

What’s the word?

Nketiah, who is currently on loan at Championship side Leeds United, has spoken of the significance to have good support in football and how he is in regular contact with Aubameyang.

The 20-year-old is not having the best of times at Leeds after only playing 133 minutes for the Whites. However, he has managed to score four goals in eight appearances.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the youngster has expressed his disappointment about his lack of playing time in Marcelo Bielsa’s side, per the Mirror.

Speaking to Goal, however, Nketiah has revealed that he keeps in regular contact with Arsenal’s leading goalscorer.

He said: “I’ve got a way to go to be compared to Aubameyang! I always try to have a good impact on the game. I’m in good form I feel like for club and country. He messages me sometimes through Instagram.”

Nketiah continued: “I think it’s good to have that kind of support around you. It’s important for people that you care about and that care about you. Every time I come away here is a great opportunity for me to show myself, my talents that I have.”

A good role model

For Nketiah to have a responsible and mature figure in Aubameyang to look up to will only benefit the youngster going forward.

So far this season, Aubameyang has scored eight goals in 10 appearances and was the joint winner of the Premier League Golden Boot award for the 2018/19 campaign along with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. The African trio shared the spoils with 22 goals apiece.

The influence that the Gabonese striker has had on Nketiah already has been evident this season, in particular.
