Former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has exclusively suggested to Football FanCast that £20m man Said Benrahma could be a possible replacement for Declan Rice.

The Hammers were dealt a major blow on Easter Monday when it was confirmed that the midfielder has been ruled out for around four weeks following a knee injury sustained in England’s World Cup qualifier against Poland last week.

Rice’s injury could keep him out of West Ham’s next four Premier League matches, although his teammates certainly didn’t feel his absence in their victory at Wolves on Monday night – a result which saw them climb back into the top four.

Club captain Mark Noble replaced Rice in the side, making just his fifth Premier League start of the campaign in what’s his penultimate season at the London Stadium.

But despite Noble having more than 500 West Ham appearances to his name, McAvennie believes that West Ham need someone with slightly more energy in order to maintain their European hopes.

He told Football FanCast:

“To play Noble for six weeks could set us back, no disrespect to him, but he’s just not got the energy or the legs that the younger guys have. David has got to find energy in the middle.

“If Rice is caught out and Soucek is up beside him, the two of them have got energy to get back, but Noble can’t. But if Johnson or whoever he wants to put in – Benrahma, and may have to play him a bit deeper, but he’s still got the energy to get up and down. Lingard, I don’t think he’ll bring him that far back.

“It’s a strange one and it’s going to be a headache for David Moyes.”

West Ham host fellow top-four side Leicester City at the London Stadium at the weekend, in a fixture that could have a big say on who qualifies for the Champions League.

وفاز الزمالك على سيراميكا كليوباترا اليوم بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدف في المباراة التي أقيمت على ملعب المقاولون العرب ضمن منافسات كأس الرابطة المصرية.

واختتم: “بن شرقي قضى أفضل فترة في حياته منذ أن خرج من المغرب وهو مع الزمالك، هو لاعب مختلف وعلى النادي الاستفادة منه قبل الرحيل إن حدث”.

ويتواجد أشرف بن شرقي مع المغرب بالكاميرون في الوقت الحالي، للمشاركة في نهائيات كأس أمم إفريقيا.

ويستعد منتخب المغرب لملاقاة مصر في ربع نهائي كأس أمم إفريقيا يوم الأحد المقبل.

يذكر أن أشرف بن شرقي قد سجل 5 أهداف مع الزمالك خلال مشاركته في 8 مباريات محليًا وإفريقيا بالموسم الحالي وصنع هدفا وحيدا.

Mark Douglas has dropped a claim from sources close to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium on the potential takeover of Newcastle United.

Writing in his latest piece for The Chronicle, the football journalist has claimed that the consortium are continuing to wait the outcome of arbitration and that previous talk from James Pallotta about namechecking the St. James’ Park faithful after admitting that he wanted to buy a club in the Premier League was ‘best ignored’.

Douglas adds that all parties involved in the proposed deal between Mike Ashley and the KSA group hope that a resolution will come into fruition soon, and that while Pallotta’s interest in taking over in the North East is ‘genuine’, he knows that there is ‘no prospect’ of anything happening on that front any time soon.

Newcastle takeover paused for now

It seems as if any talk of a potential takeover at the Tyneside club, whether that would be by the KSA consortium or Pallotta, is on pause for now until their fate is sealed in the top flight.

Steve Bruce’s team are not guaranteed to avoid relegation down to the EFL Championship just yet, despite Fulham’s latest 1-0 home loss at the hands of Wolves on Friday night.

Nonetheless, the Magpies absolutely must stay in the division come the end of the 2020/21 term, and then focus can be put on a potential takeover.

Most supporters would have been forgiven if they had forgotten that Crystal Palace had signed goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Indeed, the former England goalkeeper has made just one appearance for the Eagles this season since his summer move from Stoke City, a drab FA Cup defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Having previously been talked up as one of the most promising stoppers in the Premier League with the Potters, Butland’s career is now at a new low.

As recently as May 2018, the goalkeeper was valued at £19.8m and being rumoured as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois at Chelsea.

He was fresh off of the back of a season where he was Stoke City’s undoubted number one, despite the club’s demotion to the Championship. The stopper had also racked up 20 clean sheets in the English top-flight.

Since then though, Butland’s rating has taken a huge drop of £17.1m, all the way down to £2.7m, with 27 goalkeepers in the Premier League now holding a higher transfer rating than Butland.

Whilst Palace will certainly have not lost any money on the 28-year-old if they sold him for that amount, with him being brought to Selhurst Park for just under £1m last summer, they are now lumbered with a player who appears to be in habitual freefall.

Having signed a contract to 2023, the question has to be asked whether the Eagles will ever be able to recoup even that amount should he be sold.

It is certainly a huge drop off then for a man who had managed to accumulate nine caps for his country, even being named in his nation’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Considering he has not made an appearance for Palace this season in the Premier League, it now seems a baffling move for Steve Parish to have brought Butland to Selhurst Park last summer.

O dia no Fluminense foi de reconhecimento do novo Centro de Treinamento. Pela primeira vez o grupo profissional treinou no complexo esportivo – que ainda está em obras -, e o clima foi bastante leve entre jogadores, comissão técnica, diretoria e funcionários, mas Levir Culpi não deu indicações do time que entra em campo na quinta-feira, contra o Flamengo, em Volta Redonda.

Apenas a parte inicial do treino de foi aberta à imprensa. Neste momento, o presidente Peter Siemsen e Pedro Antônio, VP de Projetos Especiais, reuniram-se no centro do gramado com os demais e disseram algumas palavras. Gum, capitão da equipe, o técnico Levir Culpi e o auxiliar Marcão também tiveram a palavra antes de todos posarem para fotos e registraram o momento histórico.

Após uma oração dos jogadores, comissão técnica e diretoria, a bola rolou no novo gramado do Campo 2 pela primeira vez por volta das 16h, mas a imprensa só pôde observar os 15 minutos iniciais, que não mostrou qual time será escalado contra o Flamengo. Na coletiva após o treino, Levir Culpi foi sincero ao ser questionado se a tendência é repetir o time dos últimos jogos:

– A tendência é não falar sobre a escalação – comentou o técnico Levir Culpi.

Neste primeiro momento, o Fluminense realizará treinos pontuais no CT da Barra da Tijuca. De acordo com o clube, a mudança definitiva acontecerá na próxima temporada. Atualmente dois dos três campos oficiais estão prontos, enquanto o edifício que hospedará todo o departamento de futebol está em construção. A academia – que ainda não recebeu os equipamentos -, sala de fisioterapia, vestiários e sala de aquecimentos estão à disposição do elenco.
