Sassá passou por exames, mas nenhum detectou lesão, até que no último dia 12, realizou uma nova avaliação, quando foi constatada a lesão na cartilagem. De acordo com o departamento de comunicação da Raposa, o atacante recebeu a mesma resposta: há a necessidade de cirurgia para a correção do problema. Uma nova data para a realização do procedimento deve ser marcada em breve. Em 17 jogos pelo Cruzeiro, Sassá marcou sete gols.

A clinical Pakistan maintained their perfect Twenty20 record against an injury-ravaged New Zealand by strolling to a 49-run victory. Imran Nazir smashed his first half-century in limited-overs since returning from the ICL and some swinging from the lower order pushed the target to a tough 162. The spin pair of Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal had confounded New Zealand’s batsmen in the one-dayers, but the match was settled even before they came into the attack today.Against the Twenty20 world champions, New Zealand’s chances were slim, given the long list of unfit players. The biggest blow was the loss of captain Daniel Vettori to a head injury picked up during the one-dayers; the list also included James Franklin and fast bowler Kyle Mills. Key allrounder Jacob Oram had also rushed back home, on paternity leave. New Zealand were actually forced to bring on a half-fit Franklin as a substitute when Aaron Redmond (who didn’t come out to bat) picked up a groin strain while bowling.The difference between the two teams was the top-order batting. The worms couldn’t have looked more different after two overs: Pakistan were 3 for 0, New Zealand were 29 for 1. After seven, it read: Pakistan 53 for 1, New Zealand 44 for 4. He welcomed Butler with a couple of flat-batted sixes off his first two deliveries. Kamran fell in the next over but Nazir was undeterred. Butler watched the ball fly over his head off the first ball of the seventh, his mood worsened two deliveries later when a top-edge flashed over the keeper’s head for another four. A high full-toss followed, which Nazir promptly cracked beyond the point boundary; the cheergirls there having an anxious moment as the ball homed in on them.That had the crowds cheering but the biggest roar came a minute after debutant wicketkeeper BJ Watling pulling off a smart catch off a top-edge to send back Umar Akmal in the eighth over. Afridi walked out. He played a couple of streaky shots early on, but gave his fans something to savour, slamming a slower ball from Scott Styris over long-on. A similar stroke from Nazir two deliveries later brought up his half-century, and Pakistan looked set for a massive score.McCullum turned to his main man, Bond, for help. He delivered by ending the stand, getting Nazir to slice the ball to third man. McCullum then relied on his part-timer Redmond to get through some quiet overs with his flighted legspinners. Redmond exceeded expectations by dismissing the experienced middle-order pair of Afridi and Shoaib Malik.Pakistan had lost some of the impetus, but Razzaq showed some of the big-hitting he was famous for several years ago to muscle Pakistan past 160, which proved more than sufficient.New Zealand have less than a day to regroup and find XI fit players before the second Twenty20 on Friday.

Everton will travel to Selhurst Park today to face league position rivals, Crystal Palace, with both teams desperate to take three points from the game.

If Everton can seal the deal with a second consecutive win over Patrick Vieira’s side today, they have the chance of climbing back into the top half of the table, however, if they lose the game, Crystal Palace can leapfrog Everton and gain a spot in the top half, so it should be an interesting game for both sets of fans on Sunday afternoon.

One player who will more than likely make a return to the side for his eighth appearance for the Toffees this season is Mason Holgate.

The 25-year-old should start in the side today after Yerry Mina sustained yet another injury in Everton’s victory over Arsenal. That saw the defender subbed off in the 33rd minute with Rafa Benitez confirming that Mina will not be available for Everton’s Premier League fixture away from home this weekend.

Holgate has never been able to take himself to the next level but the defender was highly thought of by Carlo Ancelotti, who once said:

“He has the quality to be at the top as a defender. He is fast, strong physically and good with his head.

“He is really competitive. He is a fighter. But to be a fighter, you have to use this quality in the right way.”

There is currently a real window of opportunity for Holgate to establish himself in the defensive line by putting in important performances in the coming games ahead, with Mina injured and Lucas Digne reportedly entrapped in a feud with the manager, there has never been a better opportunity for the defender to prove he deserves to be in the starting eleven more consistently.

With 3.8 aerial duels won per game this term – more than any other Everton defender – he’s certainly got what it takes to bully Crystal Palace this afternoon.

Thus, £18m-rated gem could have a real impact on an important win that is needed for the Toffees today.

It could also be a career-defining moment for him as to whether Benitez believes he has what it takes to become a long term solution for an injury-plagued Mina, or whether he must go into the upcoming transfer window to find a defender who can improve upon the current situation for Everton.

West Ham United have initiated talks regarding a deal to bring Nathaniel Phillips to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made by West Ham insiders Claret & Hugh, who revealed that David Moyes and his transfer team are in discussions with the Liverpool centre-back ahead of a potential move in the winter market.

However, the insiders go on to suggest that the 58-year-old manager will first have to hold a meeting with the club’s new board in order to discuss his plans for the January transfer window, as well as the funds he will have at his disposal this winter.

Forget Ogbonna

With centre-back pair Angelo Ogbonna – anterior cruciate ligament injury – and Kurt Zouma – hamstring tendon injury – both facing lengthy spells on the sidelines, the heart of the West Ham defence is undoubtedly an area of the pitch in which Moyes simply must strengthen next month.

And, while it is undeniable that he is a player of extreme importance to the Hammers, should the club manage to get a deal over the line for Phillips this January, he could well be a signing who ultimately goes on to take Ogbonna’s place alongside Zouma in Moyes’ backline.

Indeed, over his 17 Premier League appearances for Liverpool last season, the £7.2m-rated man was in excellent form, helping his side keep seven clean sheets, as well as making an average of 1.2 interceptions, 1.3 tackles, 4.8 clearances and winning a whopping 7.5 duels per game.

The player who Jurgen Klopp dubbed a “monster” who is “absolutely insane” also chipped in going forwards, scoring one goal, registering one assist and creating one big chance for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of 0.9 shots and making 0.4 key passes per game.

These returns saw the £65k-per-week centre-back earn a highly impressive seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.19, ranking him as the Reds’ fourth-best performer in the league last time out.

As such, should Phillips be able to refind this form after a potential switch to East London, it would not be surprising to see him take the place of Ogbonna in Moyes’ starting XI going forwards – leading us to believe that the West Ham board must do all they can do land the Liverpool defender in the January window.

– Se eu for candidato e conseguir ganhar as eleições, Ronaldo Fenômeno vai estar no Corinthians. O cargo vamos ver depois, mas será um cargo alto pela capacidade dele – disse Andrés, em entrevista ao site da Espn.

– O Ronaldo nunca esteve longe do Corinthians. É uma pessoa que sempre contribuiu, que sempre que esteve perto do Corinthians agiu muito positivamente e é muito competente no que faz – acrescentou.

Andrés foi presidente do Corinthians de 2007 a 2010 e foi o responsável por contratar Ronaldo para a temporada de 2009. Desde então eles se tornaram amigos.

A eleição no Corinthians será realizada no dia 3 de fevereiro. Até agora há três candidatos confirmado Antônio Roque Citafini, Felipe Ezabella e Romeu Tuma Jr. A candidatura de Andrés deve ser lançada no dia 15 de novembro.
